Be prepared when you enter the forest

Teach and tell others

PowerPoint

When you walk among the trees of our woodlands and forests, you will hear more birds and animals than you actually see. This is because they are very good at hiding.

They need to hide from their enemies, larger birds and animals who might like to eat them. They also use sound to communicate with each other, to mark their territories or to find a mate.

So, if you can recognise different sounds and know which birds and animals are making them, your walk will be so much more exciting.
